On this 6-day safari, we will explore two parks in northern Uganda. You will have a chance to see the big four animals (lions, leopards, elephants, and Cape buffalo) during the night.
This circuit is also good for bird watching, as the area has many special birds.
Day 1: Visit Ziwa Rhinos and Proceed to Kitgum
We will leave Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast and drive to Kitgum in northern Uganda. We will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which was set up to help protect the southern white rhinos.
These rhinos became extinct in the 1970s, and this project was started to help them breed and return to the wild. After the visit, we will continue to Kitgum, where we will spend the night.
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo and Evening Game Drive
We will have an early breakfast and drive to Kidepo National Park. We hope to arrive in the afternoon in time for lunch, check in at our lodge, and prepare for the evening game drive, which will start around 6 pm. On this drive, we hope to see leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, buffaloes, and other night animals like bush babies.
Day 3: Full Day in Kidepo
We will wake up early and start our game drive at 6:30 am to find animals while they are still active. This helps us see more wildlife. The park has around 85 mammal species and over 300 bird species.
You may see lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, and different antelopes like Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, eland, and dik-dik, as well as rare animals like the Greater and Lesser Kudu and the Kavirondo Bush Baby.
Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Gulu
Today we will have a long drive, so we will leave after breakfast and head to Murchison Falls National Park through Gulu. Depending on our arrival time, we may do a game drive as we head to our lodge to rest for the next day.
Day 5: Game Drive and Boat Safari
We will go for an early morning game drive and then have breakfast in the wild. We hope to see the big five animals and other wildlife, including giraffes, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, warthogs, hyenas, baboons, and monkeys.
In the afternoon, we will go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. On the cruise, you may see many hippos and crocodiles, as well as elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, and different water birds like fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and maybe the rare shoebill stork.
Day 6: Visit Top of the Falls, Transfer to Entebbe, and End of Trip
On the last day, we will visit the top of the falls and then drive back to Kampala or Entebbe for your departure flight.
