Photography in Kidepo Valley National Park gives photographers many chances to capture the wild land, wildlife, and beautiful scenes.

Drones are not allowed in the park. You must pay the park entrance fee and get a photography permit before taking pictures.

The best time for wildlife photography is the dry season, from September to March. During this time, animals gather around the permanent water source in Narus valley.

The best time for landscape photography is the wet season, from April to August. The grass, shrubs, and trees are green. There are fewer tourists, which makes the wilderness feel peaceful.

Great photos can be taken early in the morning between 6:30 and 7:30 am when the sun rises. Evening photos can be taken between 5:30 and 6:30 pm as the sun sets over the open plains. The skies at these times are bright and colorful.

Wild animals like leopards, lions, and cheetahs are good subjects as they roam freely in Narus valley. Lions and leopards climbing trees offer special photo chances.

Birds such as the ostrich, which is only found in Kidepo, the pygmy falcon, and the Abyssinian roller can also be photographed.

Narus river is a great place to take pictures of animals with their reflections in the water. Big herds of buffalo and elephants gather there too.

Animals come to Apoka Rest Camp for water, especially in the early morning or evening. You can stay there if you want to take photos of wildlife.

The unique culture of the Karamojong people, including their homes and clothing, offers great photo subjects. The IK people on the slopes of Mount Morungole, Uganda’s smallest tribe, are also interesting. Always ask for permission before taking pictures of people.

Lamoj mountain and Kanangorok hot springs offer beautiful natural views that are perfect for photos.

There are many places to stay in the park, from luxury lodges to budget options. Kidepo Savannah Lodge is ideal for photographers because there is no fence between the lodge and the park.

Be patient and respectful with wildlife to get better photos. Kidepo Valley National Park offers great views, especially at sunrise and sunset.
