Visit Kidepo in June – Uganda Safari Weather Guide

Kidepo in June

June is a good month to visit Kidepo Valley National Park. There is very little rain, and many animals can be seen in the park.

The few rains that fall in June make the roads easier to use. It is best to use a 4×4 safari vehicle with a driver, especially if you are on a self-drive trip.

Daytime temperatures range between 21°C and 35°C. At night, it gets cooler. When packing, include light and breathable clothes, sunscreen, hats, raincoats, long-sleeved clothes, insect repellent, and a first aid kit.

The skies are clearer, which makes it a good time for photography. You can enjoy views of the landscape, and the light rains help improve animal visibility since the bushes are not thick.

You can see animals like buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, antelopes, and zebras. These animals are easy to spot during game drives, which can be done in the early morning or late afternoon.

You can also meet local communities such as the Karamojong and the IK tribe. During your visit, you can learn about their culture, listen to stories from elders, and taste their traditional food.

Bird-watching is a special activity here, with over 475 bird species. Watch out for ostriches, migratory birds, kori bustards, and secretary birds. Watching birds in flocks can be very calming. Make sure to carry binoculars for a better view.

The Kanangorok hot springs also offer wide views of the open land. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunset after a long day. You should not miss visiting this spot while in Kidepo.

Kidepo Valley National Park has fresh air that makes visitors feel comfortable. Because of the little rain, animals gather around water sources, making it easy to see them.

June is a good month for all activities in the park. Nature walks are also possible since the paths are easy to follow.
