Mara Safari Lodge Kidepo is located in the Karamoja sub-region in northeastern Uganda, just 1 kilometer from Kalokudo Gate, the main entrance of Kidepo Valley National Park.
The lodge is built using natural materials like tree plantations, and the hospitality is very good. The word “Mara” means “how are you” in the Ik language, which shows how connected the lodge is with the local communities.
The lodge has 5 spacious cottages with rooms made from natural materials that are locally and sustainably sourced. These materials are eco-friendly, from the poles of the beds to the wooden wardrobes, tables, and chairs.
This is where nature meets modern comfort, with ensuite bathrooms that have hot and cold showers, bathroom mirrors, and sinks. The rooms also have balconies that provide clear views of the park from the comfort of your cottage.
Mara Safari Lodge Kidepo has rooms with queen-sized beds covered with white beddings and mosquito nets. The restaurant at the lodge has a warm atmosphere with different meals on the menu. Guests can enjoy their food in the restaurant or choose a bush breakfast under the rising sun or a bush dinner.
There is also a campfire where guests can share stories, look at the shining stars in the sky, and create good memories. Dinner at the lodge ends with a Mara Coffee ceremony where guests enjoy locally made coffee.
The lodge offers guided adventures inside Kidepo Valley National Park. The guides are experienced and know a lot about the animals and plants in the park.
Game drives give visitors the chance to see leopards, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, ostriches, Karamoja apalis, and secretary birds.
Guests also enjoy cultural visits with the Karamojong and Ik people, the neighboring tribes around the park. You can learn about their traditions, beliefs, food, and way of life.
Other activities include guided nature walks in Narus Valley, Kidepo Valley, and Namamukweny Valley.
When planning your safari to Mara Safari Lodge Kidepo, it is good to pack sunscreen, mosquito repellent, binoculars for watching animals, a camera with extra batteries, drinking water, snacks, hats, sunglasses, and a small backpack to carry snacks, drinks, and other personal items during the activities.
Mara Safari Lodge Kidepo offers guests more than just a place to sleep. It gives them a chance to explore the birds, animals, plants, and cultures of northeastern Uganda.
