Apoka Airstrip is one of the airstrips in northern Uganda used to reach Kidepo Valley National Park. The park is in a remote area with poor roads, so the airstrip makes access easier. It is located near Apoka Safari Lodge, one of the main places to stay for visitors to the park.
Apoka Airstrip is the most convenient option for travelers because it is inside the park. It is easier to use compared to the other two airstrips, which are Lomeja and Kidepo airstrips.
Aerolink Uganda is an aviation company that offers scheduled and private charter flights to the park. The flights to Apoka Airstrip happen three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Flights can be arranged from either Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip. The price for a one-way scheduled flight starts at 420 USD per person. A return ticket costs about 700 USD per person. The flight departs at 12:30 pm and arrives at 2:45 pm at Apoka Airstrip. The flight takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes, depending on the route.
The return flight from Apoka to Entebbe leaves at 3:00 pm and arrives at 4:30 pm, taking around 2 hours and 30 minutes. These times may change depending on the route taken. A minimum of seven passengers is required to confirm a flight.
The open landscapes, the wide Narus Valley, the wildlife, and the chance to meet the local communities make flying to Kidepo Valley National Park through Apoka Airstrip a simple and special experience.
