Uganda Filming Tours in Kidepo National Park

Filming in Kidepo

Filming in Kidepo – Kidepo Valley National Park is a great place for filming because of its unique wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and the cultures of the local people.

The best time to film the scenery is during the wet season, from April to August, when the park is green.

During the wet season, animals do not gather in one place like Narus valley. Instead, they spread out across the park.

A fee must be paid based on the number of people in the filming crew and the time spent filming. This fee covers entrance and monitoring and helps ensure smooth filming in Kidepo.

You also need a filming permit from the Uganda Media Council, the media accreditation body. In addition, a commercial filming license from Uganda Wildlife Authority is required.

Filming can also be done in the dry season, which helps protect equipment from rain. However, the hot weather may harm filming gear, so carrying covers is a good idea.

Animals you can film include leopards, cheetahs, lions, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, and striped hyenas. These animals are mostly found in the grasslands of Narus valley.

Nearby places worth filming include Kanangorok hot springs, which offer great views of sunrises and sunsets.

If you plan to film local communities like the Karamojong and IK people, it is important to get permission from elders or local leaders as a sign of respect.

You may film the Manyattas of the Karamojong and their traditional dances. The mountain ranges of Morungole are home to the IK people.

Bird species to include in your filming are the ostrich, Karamoja Apalis, pygmy falcon, and other colorful birds.

There are several places to stay while filming in Kidepo. These include luxury lodges like Apoka Safari Lodge, mid-range options like Katarum Lodge, and budget-friendly sites like Apoka Rest Camps.

Kidepo Valley National Park is a unique filming location because of its natural landscapes, rich culture, and wildlife.
